Biokovo Geranium (Geranium x cantabrigiense ‘Biokovo’)

Biokovo Geranium

  • White Blooms With Pink Veins
  • Rebloomer
  • Drought Tolerant

Want to add a little cutie to your landscape? The Biokovo Geranium (Geranium x cantabrigiense ‘Biokovo’) is the plant for you! This Geranium won the Perennial of the Year award in 2015!

This type of Geranium is a dwarf variety that will grow relatively low to the ground. Fragrant dark green foliage has a rounded, deep lobed leaf shape which turns into a rusty red color in the fall.

Early spring brings blushing inch wide white blooms that will last into late summer. This mounding plant will reach about 10 inches in height and will spread up to 1 ½ feet in width when fully mature.

‘Biokovo’ is best grown in your garden, but it is also known to perform well in containers and pots. Use this Geranium as a “spiller” in the spiller-thriller-filler combination of outdoor pot arrangements. You will need to have more frequent watering if you have this growing in containers.

Since ‘Biokovo’ is a medium grower this will be a perfect choice for ground covers, edgings, rock gardens, and mass plantings. This is low maintenance and easy to control, and is a garden favorite.

‘Biokovo’ grows best in full sun or partial shade. If it is too shaded, it will not produce as many blooms and will spread more in its habit of growth. Your soil should be moist, organic, well-draining soil. Sandy, loamy, chalky, slightly acidic, and rich humus soils will help this plant grow and thrive. Once the roots become established, it can withstand periods of drought.
