Tips for Care:

Sedum needs to be planted in the full sun in well-drained soil for them to do their best. This perennial will tolerate most soil types, even thriving in poor soils, and is very drought-resistant once established. It actually prefers drier soil! In fact, plants that are grown in rich, moist soils may produce heavy, weaker growth that flops as the flower heads develop. If this sounds like your soil, simply plan to snip back the new growth by a few inches. Do this as soon as your stems reach about a foot tall. Don’t worry, they’ll soon produce new flowers on the shortened stems, but the stems will be much sturdier for you.

Add a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch around the root zone to keep more moisture consistency in the soil. It’s easy to do a quick cleanup of this low-maintenance plant in the early spring – just cut the dried stems down to the ground.
