Often forming darker outer petals that are nearly black, these unfurl into glorious dark red blooms that look fantastic in a vase and bouquet, together with other blooms, or as a spectacle on their own! A single stem in a bud vase will hold the entire room! Growing 84 inches in height and forms an oval form 48 inches wide.
Black Magic® Rose is a Hybrid Tea type Rose bush and part of the popular Painters Collection series created by Georges Delbard Roses. These are decidedly modern Roses and are USDA hardy in zones 5-9 and are disease resistant and adaptable.
Plant a single specimen planting among other Roses, as a focal point in your foundation planting, and highlight a cottage garden border with dramatic blooms! Your pollinators and honeybees will not be able to resist! These are wonderful gift plants – Baby showers, wedding presents, birthdays, anniversaries, memorial gifts…the list goes on and on. Or you can simply make the most of a random Monday to brighten a loved one’s day with a thoughtful surprise to express your gratitude and affection.
Black Magic® Rose is a gorgeous cut flower production or garden use. Go big and make a berm in your front yard to showcase her all growing season long! Go ahead and sacrifice a little lawn. The rich pink blossoms truly “pop” against mature evergreens.
Improved disease-resistance versus black spot, this Hybrid Tea Roses need full sun, so provide at least six hours of sunlight a day, favoring the morning sun if you have it! Ensuring the soil is enriched and well-drained gives you the best performance. Provide good air circulation and water new plants regularly so they do not dry out between waterings.
Our growers recommend that you use drip irrigation, rather than overhead watering with sprinklers. This tip is also a helpful trick to save time with container gardens. Use mulch to help keep the roots moist and keep the ground near your Roses hydrated on a regular schedule once established to support the blooms, avoiding splashing the foliage.
Feed with an organic, granular, slow-release fertilizer in early spring and mid-summer; following application rates on the label. Vigilantly avoid nitrogen-rich lawn fertilizer near your flowering Roses!
In the fall, rake, and bag any fallen leaf litter to place in the yard waste. Prune Hybrid Tea Roses in early spring, removing any broken branches. Trim it down by shortening up the canes to 6-8 inches, cutting at a 45-degree angle just above a bud. Thin out the thickest canes down to ground level. This will leave younger, thinner canes to flourish and produce the healthiest blooms.
Black Magic® Rose adds depth and drama to your garden and your vase arrangements. The glossy green leaves of these Hybrid Tea Roses set them apart!
