Chamaecyparis pisifera Boulevard
Chamaecyparis pisifera ‘Boulevard’ also known as Blue Moss Cypress is an evergreen conifer with a large, dense narrow form, and soft silvery blue-grey foliage. The blue shade is best achieved in shaded areas.
Its curved needles gives the tree a fluffy appearance and is a very attractive young specimen. In the winter the needles often have a purple or bronze colour when exposed to winds.

How to take care of Chamaecyparis Boulevard
In general : Chamaecyparis Boulevard dislike wet feet, therefore plant in well-drained soil which has been improved with some compost, you can improve soil drainage by mixing in some sand or grit to the planting holes.
Chamaecyparis Boulevard have strong preference for sandy, acidic soils. At the start of winter water the Chamaecyparis Boulevard well so that they go into the winter with a moisture boost. As Chamaecyparis Boulevard are evergreen trees, they keep on dehydrating all winter long.
Avoid shading the base of the plant to prevent the lower part also turning brown – it does not stand shade. Do not apply fertilizer until your trees have been in the ground for at least 6 -8 weeks. It could burn the new roots.
During Feb and March add some Natural Kieserite (Magnesium Sulphate) on top of the soil to improve the foliage colour, if you cannot obtain it, organic fertilizer will suffice. Chamaecyparis Boulevard require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and should only be pruned to remove any dead and old wood.
