Tips for Care:

Tall Garden Phlox blooms best in at least six hours of full sunlight for the most flowers and brightest color, but Cherry Cream also blooms nicely in partial shade. This light-hearted plant won’t give you any trouble if you provide well-drained soil. Be sure to give them a regular schedule of supplemental water during their first year and water during a prolonged drought. Give them extra watering before winter.

Apply a three-inch layer of mulch around your plant, but make sure to pull it back from the stems. In late fall after frost, trim the stems back and shape them. Lightly deadhead the first flush of flowers if you want to encourage more flowers later in the season. While no plant is truly deer resistant, they do not prefer the taste of these plants. If you live in Deer Country, be sure to use Deer Repellent during planting, guided by the instructions on the label.
