Compact Cherry Laurel

Category:

One of the Best Hedge Plants on the Market!

Cherry Laurels are go-to hedge shrubs for landscape designers all across the country. The problem, though, is that laurels can get pretty huge and don’t fit into many smaller modern gardens. Compact Carolina Cherry Laurel (Prunus caroliniana ‘Compacta’) takes care of that. It matures at half of the size of a regular Cherry Laurel so it easily fits in any space but still has all of the attributes that have made it so reliable.

Compact Carolina has broad glossy green leaves that stay on the shrub year-round. (To see where the shrub gets its name, crush a leaf in your hand and give it a whiff. The smell is like maraschino cherries!) In the spring and early summer, it blooms tons of fragrant, creamy-white candelabra-like flowers. These are followed by small black decorative berries.

Use this shrub liberally for a compact, versatile background plant in big beds or borders. They create a nice backdrop for interesting flowering shrubs or big bold perennials. They make a great privacy hedge and are thick enough for a solid privacy barrier or a windbreak.

Your Cherry Laurels can tolerate heat, drought, and wind with ease. (For those of you in fire-prone areas these are always on lists for firescaping landscapes.) You can let them grow naturally or shear them into cones or columns or rectangles – they won’t flinch.

Every garden has a place for Cherry Laurel, especially when it is as perfectly-sized and reliable as Compact Carolina Cherry Laurel. Order yours today!
