Cypripedium tibeticum is a tiny hardy ladyslipper orchid species native to southern China (southern Gansu, western Sichuan, western Yunnan, Xizang, as well as Bhutan and Sikkim) at 8,000′ – 14,000′ elevation. In the garden, Cypripedium tibeticum makes a small 8″ tall clump, topped in spring with a flower that includes a purple to violet pouch with similarly colored arching sepals. Our seed-grown nursery propagated plants are all flowering size. These should only be attempted by advanced gardeners.
