Diamond Princess Peach Tree (Prunus persica ‘Diamond Princess’)

Diamond Princess Peach Tree

Radiant and glowing deep pink fuzzy skin with a darker pinkish-red blush, the Diamond Princess Peach Tree (Prunus persica ‘Diamond Princess’) is a succulent summer fruit with a crisp, yellow-fleshed firm texture! The flavor is a delicious balance of acid and sugar, so it is excellent for eating fresh and for baking!

Diamond Princess Peach Tree has gorgeous frilly pink flowers that are fragrant and attract loads of pollinators and hummingbirds! Self-fruitful, you’ll only need one tree for a bountiful harvest of healthy, delectable fruit! Want a larger harvest, or to extend your harvest? Plant this early-season tree with a mid and late-season ripening Peach for healthy fruit all growing season long!

Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 6 through 9, delightfully fragrant and juicy fuzzy Peach trees can be pruned to nearly any size and be maintained smaller for any sized garden! You’ll enjoy fruit at a young age because of these precocious trees and enjoy an early-season harvest throughout July!

Planting and Application:

The lush green foliage provides wonderful shade when grown as a single-trunked specimen that also provides you and your family with delicious, healthy fruit! Peach trees can also be grown as shrubby hedgerows and in groupings, keeping their branching down to the ground! This provides privacy and screening that neither you, your neighbors, nor your backyard songbird population, will mind!

A vibrant ornamental tree, instead of getting that flowering tree for your landscaping that only has gorgeous fragrant blooms in spring, you also gain a double-duty edible landscaping tree and enjoy 4 seasons of beauty and usefulness! Diamond Princess Peach Trees’ firm flesh is great for grilling and baking, holding up well when cooked. The firm texture also holds up well in the lunch box for fresh eating!

Tips for Care:

Peach trees need full sun and at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Morning sun is best, as the strong rays quickly dry off the foliage from overnight dew. Please provide fertile, well-drained soil, enriched with compost and organic matter. Choose a site with slightly acidic soil, with a sandy-loam medium. Provide air circulation, so make sure the planting site isn’t a low-lying trap for cold air.

Plan to supply a regular schedule of water. This is critical during the first year in your landscape. Add supplemental water during fruit development every year. Add a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch helps keep the root system nice and cool.

Prune in late winter to maintain a vase-shaped canopy with scaffolding branches at a 45-degree angle. Remove branches that cross or shade others, or grow into the interior of the canopy. Your goal is to work to increase sunlight and air circulation in the canopy.
