Easy Elegance Yellow Brick Road Rose (Rosa ‘BAIoad’)

Easy Elegance Yellow Brick Road Rose

Remember when Dorothy stepped out of her old farmhouse into the amazing technicolor of Oz? Well, there is no place like home! Gift yourself and your loved ones that same kind of colorful experience – the easy way! Beautiful Easy Elegance® Yellow Brick Road Rose (Rosa ‘BAIoad’) offers armloads of rich yellow blooms each year from late spring through the first frost of fall.

The showy, two-toned blooms are so lush and full and held at the tips of the branches from top to bottom. Yellow Brick Road Rose features a subtle flower color effect with mellow, butter-yellow outer petals. Each bloom opens into a courageous lemon-yellow “pop” of color. This refreshing hue brings a lot of elegant sizzle to the overall look, without looking gaudy or overdone.

These totally gorgeous Roses produce a bevy of nectar-rich blooms that support local butterflies and pollinators. Snip a few clusters at their peak for darling indoor arrangements, and don’t forget to include a spray or two of the clean, glossy foliage for contrast!

Modern Shrub Roses are perfect for both beginning and busy gardeners and have been specially bred to be tough and reliable, without giving up the classic Rose’s good looks. Yellow Brick Road offers excellent resistance to black spot, which is rare in yellow Roses. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 through 9, and can grow to a tidy 2-3 feet in height and width.

Planting and Application:

Whether you grow these Shrub Roses in the ground or use them in containers, this big-hearted, yet compact selection is very easy on the eyes and a joy to be around. Emphasize your landscape with this endearing choice, no matter the size of your living space. The brilliant gold blooms are perfect for bringing cheer to any sunny spot in your landscape! Specimens, focal points and bright accents that light up a tired garden bed or border.

Perk up the look of your existing landscape with a sophisticated row of these warm-toned blooming plants. With its tight, mounding growth habit, Yellow Brick Road Rose looks spectacular at the front of any hedge of evergreens, in front of foundation plantings as facer shrubs, or the finishing touch along the front of a planting bed. Line your walkways and garden paths with these likable Roses. You’re guaranteed to smile each time you study their engaging yellow tones. The cheerful color welcomes and beckons you along pathways and your driveway as easy-care edging.

You can also brighten up bare spots in your residential or commercial property with Yellow Brick Road used as a hardworking groundcover. Imagine celebrating the positive impact on local beneficial pollinators with your garden guests or potential tenants! Mix them with other Easy Elegance® Roses, too. This clear yellow works so well with other hues from red to purple, and white to blue!

Create a solid low hedge by planting them 18 inches apart on center. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next. To install a new groundcover, simply add extra rows in a staggered, zigzagging planting pattern. Apply a three-inch layer of mulch between plants and keep the planting weeded as the canopies grow together.

You don’t need much room for this special yellow Munchkin, though. Welcome guests with one as a “Thriller” in a half whiskey barrel or oversized outdoor container. Decorate a balcony or porch with one in a pot, or use a hundred to create a gilded mass planting. This design treatment works beautifully on a terrace or patio, as well. Either create an elevated collection of pots in an airy corner or run a consistent series of matched pots along the length of your outdoor entertainment area.

Tips for Care:

The brainiacs at Easy Elegance® have worked hard to bring one of the healthiest yellow Roses to the market. Super-hardy Yellow Brick Road is grown on its own root and has excellent disease resistance. Easy Elegance® Roses are grown on their own roots and offer extremely high performance, even in tough conditions. Plant Roses in full sun, where they receive at least six hours of sun a day. The morning sun is great because it quickly dries off the foliage. Good airflow is important to keep your Rose healthy. Likewise, well-drained soil is a must, and Nature Hills Root Booster is recommended to provide a symbiotic relationship that never “wears out”.

Apply a consistent amount of water on a regular basis and in a well-drained enriched soil location. Use mulch to help keep the roots moist, and avoid splashing water onto the foliage, but please pull it back from directly touching the stems. Feed your Roses a good slow-release fertilizer according to the directions.

Prune all stems down to six inches from the ground and watch for the glorious new foliage to appear. Read all you need about pruning Roses Here, and about winterizing your Roses Here, and un-wintering Roses in Spring in our #ProPlantTips Garden Blog!
