Product Details

Made from a uniquely porous clay formula, the Garden Oya™ Watering Pot reduces watering needs by up to 70%. After burying your Garden Oya™ Watering Pot among your plants, the plant’s root systems will stretch towards the water source, eventually attaching themselves to the outside of the pot. This technique enables your plants to draw exactly the amount of water they need. No more over or under-watering, no more daily surface watering, no more forgetting to water! Just fill the pot and watch your plants thrive.

Garden Oya™ Watering Pot

We have three great sizes to choose from to ensure you have the right coverage for your plants’ needs. From small to large, each one comes with a silicone lid that keeps your water in and bugs or debris out. The terracotta allows just the right amount of water to penetrate; keep your Garden Oya™ topped off and reclaim some of your time just to enjoy being in the garden instead of watering it!

How To Use

Dig a hole in your garden and bury your Garden Oya™ Watering Pot, leaving the neck and the lid above the soil’s surface. Fill your oya to the top using a hose or watering can, then put the lid on. The oya will slowly release its moisture into the surrounding soil.

If you are direct-sowing seeds, you will need to initially provide additional water via a hose until the plants have developed taproots and can reach the moisture the Garden Oya™ Watering Pot provides. This applies to newly transplanted young seedlings as well. Once your plants have developed a root system that can reach the moisture, you will only need to add water to the oya.

Refill your Garden Oya™ Watering Pot every few days (average of 5 days during mild weather, more often during hot weather) or when the water level drops, and save your former watering time for other garden tasks. You’ll save water, too!

Garden Oya™ Watering Pot

At the end of the season, if you live in a location with frosts or freezes, remove your Garden Oya™ Watering Pot from the garden to prevent cracking during cold weather.

It’s good to remove it from the garden once a year for cleaning, even if you don’t live in a cold climate. To clean it, use a stiff-bristled brush to remove any dirt or plant debris from the oya’s exterior. Wash the surface with a mixture of 10 parts water to 1 part vinegar, and rinse it thoroughly afterward. Rinse out any dirt or debris that may have snuck into the pot while watering or cleaning. If storing it for the winter, allow it to dry before storing. Otherwise, you can put it back into the garden and continue to use it.
