Giant Fuyu Persimmon Tree 2

Heavy-Bearing Fruit in Only One Year

A must for fruit tree lovers, the Giant Fuyu Persimmon Tree has multiple benefits, including delicious fruit that ripens from September to early winter. Plus, you can get more than 300 pounds from a mature Giant Fuyu!

Even better is the fact that it’s easy to grow. The Giant Fuyu needs little water or fertilizer and is effortless to plant and prune. It enjoys all types of climates and can tolerate drought, and it adapts to soil as long as its well-drained. It’s self-pollinating, too. So, you get months of fresh fruit for eating out of hand or for numerous recipes, like cookies and pudding.

But the Giant Fuyu’s top benefit is its strong beginning at our nursery. The Fuyus from our nursery are grafted, which means you see fruit within a year. Seed-planted fruit trees can take 9 years to produce, but not your Giant Fuyu.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant your Giant Fuyu in partial shade (4 hours of sunlight daily) and well-draining soil.

Dig a hole that is twice as wide but only as deep as the root ball, place your tree, backfill the soil, and water the surrounding soil. Finally, mulch the surrounding soil to conserve moisture.

2. Watering:Water weekly during the establishment period, but do not overwater. This tree is drought tolerant, however, and will not need additional watering after it is established. If you’re not sure when to water, simply check your surrounding soil about 3 inches down – if the soil is dry, it’s time to water.

3. Pruning:Prune during the dormant season into an open vase shape to promote healthy growth. You can also prune to a single leader if overproduction occurs.
