Unique Variegation Sets This Evergreen Apart
Why Variegated Pittosporums?
Shades of white and gray meet classic light green to make the Variegated Pittosporum a one-of-a-kind choice among evergreen shrubs. Creamy white blossoms emerge during warmer weather in a small but impactful profusion, with an amazing orange-blossom fragrance that delights nearby areas.
And it’s not only good looking – it’s versatile, too. Because it tolerates drought and pollution, as well as a variety of soil types, you can plant this eye-catching evergreen anywhere, from streets to fence borders or even privacy hedging along your property border. Plus, it’s pet-friendly, so you don’t have to worry about your furry pals coming into contact with this Pittosporum.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: The Variegated Pittosporum is easy to grow – simply select a location with well-drained soil and 4 to 8 hours of sunlight per day. After selecting your area, dig a hole that’s two or three times the width of your shrub’s root ball. Then, place your Pittosporum before back filling the soil and watering to settle its roots.
2. Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season, about once per week or when your Pittosporum’s surrounding soil is dry. Check for soil dryness about 2 to 3 inches down – if the soil is dry, it’s time to water. However, once the plant is established, watering frequency may be reduced.
3. Fertilizing: Apply a well-balanced fertilizer before new growth begins in the spring.
4. Pruning: Prune your Variegated Pittosporum annually during winter for a tidier, neater appearance.
