New growth takes on a reddish hue in spring and fall brings a slight bronzy tinge to the branches of steady evergreen.
How to Use Slender Hinoki False Cypress In The Landscape
This Slender False Cypress is lovely as open hedges and informal screens. But mostly used as an exemplary specimen plant. The open branching creates airy privacy, while this slower-growing conifer won’t require much maintenance.
A lovely specimen indeed! Slender Hinoki is a stand-out accent due to its narrow, pyramidal form, with gracefully arching branchlets making it a natural showpiece! Plant False Cypress as an easy-care living sculpture for your landscape.
False Cypress is an excellent small, slender evergreen tree for pinpoint privacy and adding distinctive form as a background planting in mixed-shrub and mixed-evergreen beds and borders. False Cypress adds an amazing designer touch to your landscape.
The gracefully arching branches are perfect for Asian-inspired, Zen gardens, rock gardens and formal plantings alike. Slender Hinoki False Cypress has a slim profile that allows it to fit about anywhere and look good doing it.
Tips For Care
Slender Hinoki False Cypress prefers full sun or very light shade, though the full sun allows for the best color year-round. In hot climates, these do appreciate some protection from the full, relentless sun.
Requiring well-drained soil and average moisture, Slender Hinoki Cypress is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner-city environments. Once established, they are even partly drought-tolerant for short periods.
This is a relatively low maintenance accent plant, the slow-growing nature means it won’t outgrow its space any time soon. If any pruning is needed, it is recommended to trim back the new growth of the current season and remove any dieback from winter.
A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill. False Cypress are no different and really appreciate this extra layer of protection.
