The history of peaches goes back thousands of years, the STELLAR® series Autumnstar® Peach Tree (Prunus persica ‘Autumnstar’) is a recent variety that has captured the best characteristics that have made peaches some of the most popular fruits.
The Autumnstar® Peach is an all-around winner! It is good for eating straight from the tree as well as cooking and canning. The fruit is stunningly round and about 3 inches in diameter. With red skin color with a little yellow tossed in.
Ripening in late summer, you’ll be able to enjoy cool treats in late summer and fall! Juicy for fresh eating and all your jams and jellies! It is a freestone variety, so it will be easy to get the firm, yellow, juicy flesh off the pit. This variety ships and stores well, too!
How to Use STELLAR® Autumnstar® Peach Tree In The Landscape
Picture yourself looking out into your backyard in Spring, just after the weather has started to warm. You will begin to see your Autumnstar® Peach tree starting to bud, and before long, the branches will be covered with delicate pink to violet blossoms that fill the air with a fragrant aroma.
The great size and fantastic foliage means you’ll have an outstanding ornamental specimen all year long! The long, narrow and pointed leaves have a slight ripple, making the summer form a gorgeous addition to the landscape!
The fantastic shade provided by the vibrant green foliage is perfect for shading your seating areas, patio and garden beds. Be sure to plant one outside a window or set a lawn chair beneath the limbs to observe your ripening peaches.
These are delicious peaches fresh eaten right off the pit, sliced in a dish, baked in a pie or canned to enjoy during the winter months. That way you’ll be able to enjoy peach season year-round!
Tips For Care
The Autumnstar® Peach tree is very hardy and does well in the cold. Hardy in USDA growing zones 4-8, Autumnstar® does amazing in full sun. Fruit trees require at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day for optimal fruiting. This late-ripening variety bears large crops of fruit that resist bacterial spots as well as canker.
Unlike many varieties of fruit, peaches are self-pollinators, so you will not have to pair your Autumnstar® Peach with another peach tree. Head over to our Garden Blog for planting tips and tricks, Fruit Tree Care and pruning instructions to best keep your Peach tree healthy!
When you are ready to plant your Autumnstar® Peach tree, look for a place with good air circulation. This variety likes loamy, well-drained soil that has plenty of organic matter. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill.
For best results, fertilize your tree regularly with Dr. Earth Fruit Tree Fertilizer or a good organic, slow-release fertilizer. Add Nature Hills Root Booster while planting for a life-long symbiotic relationship with the tiny feeder roots.
Plant your Autumnstar® Peach tree in the early spring and water it well. Preferring consistent moisture, especially when you have a young tree that’s establishing and during fruiting.
Prune to control size in late winter and to keep an open canopy for sunlight and airflow.
In ancient China, where peaches originated, they believed that peaches increased a person’s vitality more than any other fruit because the blossoms appeared before the leaves. If the ancient Chinese were right, feeding Autumnstar® Peaches to your family will be a gift you can give them to lead a healthy life!
The Autumnstar® Peach will give you plenty of delicious fruit to enjoy from harvest to harvest.
