Highlight this Rose on a berm to really let it stand out, ringed in red or white blooming groundcover. Soften the corners of a garage or your home’s foundation, or ring a flag pole, sculpture or gazebo in bold color! The fresh color enlivens any part of the garden!
The best location is anywhere in the sun close to where you frequently pass by, gather with friends and family in your outdoor rooms, or in the meditation garden so the fragrance can envelop you! Rose Trees really stand out in large planters and sunny porch pots, so stand a pair astride your front door or define the front steps leading to your front porch.
These Roses are adaptable and stand up to the heat and full sun as well as humidity. Scentimental™ also tolerates a touch of the afternoon sun, especially in hotter climates to give it some reprieve from the summer sun. These Floribunda Roses have natural disease resistance but do even better when planted in an area with good air circulation, so you’ll spray less! Provide fertile, well-drained soil with moderate consistent moisture throughout the growing season. Add Nature Hills Root Booster while planting for a life-long symbiotic relationship with the tiny feeder roots.
A generous layer of mulch is fantastic for keeping moisture in the soil level, so you water less! As well as insulating the root ball from heat and chill. Fertilize your Rose 2 – 3 times a year with Rose food and deadhead to keep the blooms popping! Otherwise, this is a low-maintenance and easy-to-grow Rose Tree that only needs early spring pruning to start the flush of new growth for the year off right.
Rose Tree Care & Pruning
Some winter protection for Tree Form Roses is suggested for the colder zones 5 and 6 and some of zone 7 too by overwintering in an unheated garage after it goes dormant, or outside with straw and burlap wrap. Then in spring, take them back out or unwrap and trim the head back to about a 12″ sphere just as it begins to grow again in spring.
Early each spring, after the last frost of the year has passed, it’s always a good idea to prune back the Rose tree several inches to maintain the nice round form atop its trunk. Keep new blooms returning with occasional deadheading, quickly improving your overall display.
Prune away suckers and branching that forms at the base or on the trunk each year too. Pruning Roses allows for better, bushier growth each year and stimulates new growth.
