How to take care of Osmanthus Goshiki
Plant it in any free-draining soil in sun or partial shade and shelter from cold, drying winds. Be careful when handling these plants as they have sharp thorns. They prefer moist and well drained, acidic soil but are fairly adaptable.
They will produce small white fragrant flowers between early and late autumn. Water regularly; do not overwater. Feed it each week in spring and summer; reduce feeding in winter. Re-pot in spring or summer when growth is strong, into a pot about 2-3cm bigger all around, use potting compost.
Feed plants regularly – each week in spring and summer, reduce feeding in winter.
If you are growing this plant in a pot make sure that the pot is well protected from harsh winter frosts, you can do this by either burying the entire pot in the soil and mulching around the top with a few inches of bark or leaves, or by wrapping the pot in a sack filled with straw and placing it in a sheltered spot or you could move the pot indoors to an unheated room, it does not need much water in winter however do not allow it to dry out completely.
