(aka: Parthenocissus ‘Silver Showers’) We are pleased to offer a lovely 1997 introduction of a variegated selection of the well-known North American native deciduous vine, Parthenocissus quinquefolia ‘Monham’. Conifer collector Bob Fincham discovered this amazing sport in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, but the species will grow darn near anywhere, having a native range covering 38 of the 48 continental United States. The suction-based climbing woody stems can reach 50′ in height when happy, growing at 6-10′ per year when young. Each five-fingered leaf is blotched with random creamy sectors…a pattern we call unstably stable. The fall red coloration is scrumptious overlaying the variegation.
