Whispurr Pink Catmint (Nepeta x faassenii ‘Balpurrink’)

Whispurr Pink Catmint

A murmur of pink for your garden! Introducing the Whispurr™ Pink Catmint (Nepeta x faassenii ‘Balpurrink’) that brings soft baby pink blossoms and darker pinkish-plum calyxes on tall airy spires! Backed by a flush of minty-scented foliage, your sunny gardens and borders will be filled with the waving wands on their square stems, giving a nod to their Mint family relations. The soft green, scalloped foliage is held densely and supports the elegantly upright pastel blooms!

The two-tone pink panicles are long-lasting, and if you deadhead after they fade, you’ll enjoy wave after wave of return blooms until autumn! Whispurr™ Pink is a long-blooming, easy-to-grow perennial that thrives throughout USDA hardiness zones 4 to 9. Forming dense, low-growing mounds 24-28 inches tall when in flower, and spreading to 18-24 inches wide.

Aromatic from top to bottom, Catmint has long been a beneficial herb in the garden and pantry alike! As well as beneficial nectar sources for pollinators and hummingbirds! You’ll love seeing fat bumblebees, shy Spinx Moths, flitting butterflies, and humming honeybees drop by for a visit all growing season long!

Planting and Application:

Whispurr™ Pink Catmint is a must-have for Rock gardens, Pollinator gardens, and Xeric wildflower beds! Cutting gardens, and Cottage gardens shouldn’t be without one. Ideal for Sensory Gardens and Children’s Gardens, the aromatic foliage and flowers perfume the air as you brush past them or work in the garden. Catmints are even ideal for sunny porches and patio fillers and spillers in a container of your choice! While Herb and Kitchen Gardens gain an aromatic plant for tea, crafts, dream pillows, and baths.

Whispurr™ Pinks soft pastel hues defy the sun, are xeric, hard to kill, and wonderfully easy to grow! Low-growing mounds can be used as soft edging and facer plants, in groupings and as lacy skirts around a birdbath or bird feeders, or in long en masse rows to fill sunny, hot swaths of ground. Steep slopes and hard-to-mow eroding hillsides become your landscape’s butterfly hotspot, as the waves of pink spires shine in the sun! Try mixing and matching with other Nepetas or Pink’s sister Catmint, Whispurr™ Blue for a unique spectacle!

Tips for Care:

Nepetas are sun and heat lovers, blooming with abandon all season long! In the hottest of their favored growing zones, they may appreciate some afternoon shade. Preferring very well-drained soils on the drier side once established, provide regular moisture while young plants are getting established. Spread a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the roots to insulate them and keep moisture levels more consistent. Catmints are seldom bothered by deer and rabbits, and they have few pests and diseases, which is great for your pollinators when they come to gather nectar. These are low-maintenance perennials, simply deadhead to encourage wave after wave of bloom, and clean the mounds in the late autumn after the foliage dies back. Mulch and water the crowns well before winter for added protection

  • Full Sun in Cooler Zones, Afternoon Shade in Hot Climates
  • Require Excellent Drainage & Tolerates Poor Soil
  • Moderate Moisture At First & Low Moisture Needs Once Established
  • Appreciates Mulched Beds
  • Deadhead For Repeat Blooms & Prune Back In Late Fall
