Named for sweeping, feathery foliage that looks like the mythical bird, the Winged Phoenix Hardy Schefflera makes for a stunning, tropical patio or container plant. The evergreen is known for its silver-green leaves arranged in pairs on light green petioles.
A late-summer bloomer, the Winged Phoenix sprouts green flowers that turn into purple berries, for unique color and interest. The evergreen maintains its bright green foliage year-round, making it perfect for winter gardens in warm climates or to liven up indoors spaces after temperatures drop.
You’ll love this tropical shrub for its versatility: it thrives indoors and out. If you live in a colder climate, you’ll need to bring the Winged Phoenix Hardy Schefflera inside during the winter. In warmer growing zones, you can plant the Winged Phoenix outdoors as a distinctive garden centerpiece.
Even better? It’s easy to grow. The Winged Phoenix Hardy Schefflera only needs weekly watering to maintain moist soil. Be careful not to overwater, as Schefflera shrubs may suffer from root rot. If cared for properly, the shrub will grow moderately quickly, to a height and width of about 15 feet.
The Winged Phoenix Schefflera isn’t all about looks – it helps you breathe more easily, too! NASA’s Clean Air Study found that common indoor and patio plants are instrumental in filtering out harmful toxins and pollutants from the air. We can’t think of a better way to enjoy clean air than with this tropical and vibrant plant.
Another perk? Its strong beginnings. Because we’ve planted, grown and shipped your Schefflera with absolute care, you get a plant that’s ready to thrive in your landscape. We’ve put in the hard work at our nursery, so you reap the rewards of healthier roots and a head start on growth.
Tropical and unique, the Winged Phoenix Hardy Schefflera has it all.
Hardiness zone | 4-11 patio / 9-11 outdoors |
During the winter months, the Winged Phoenix Hardy Schefflera enjoys bright light. In spring and summer, it does well with indirect light and a bit of dappled shade. Scheffleras prefers warm temperatures, so be sure to keep it away from drafty areas, and bring it indoors in the winter in colder climates.
When you’re repotting or planting your Winged Phoenix Hardy Schefflera, select a container that’s twice the width of the shipped container and one that has drainage holes.
Water your Schefflera regularly and lightly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. A good rule of thumb: Put your finger in the soil to check its level of moisture. There is no need to water your Schefflera until you have a full inch of dryness starting from the top of the soil.
